Santa Claus's sleigh and reindeer had the night off–probably resting up for December 24–so Fire District No. 1's Engine 10 took up the slack, giving good ol' Kris Kringle a tour on Pomeroy's Main Street, where he was the guest of honor during the community's Hometown Christmas celebration Friday, November 24.

POMEROY–Santa truly came to town, rolling down Main Street in the Garfield County Fire District No. 1 Engine 10 during the Starlight Christmas parade held November 24. The parade was part of the Pomeroy Chamber of Commerce's Hometown Christmas event, which included Christmas shopping at local stores, cookie decorating at The Baker's Table, ornament crafting at the Blue Mountain Artisan Guild, and pictures with Santa in Pioneer Plaza following the parade.

Frozen's Elsa appeared at RPW Structural Engineering and sang at the BMAG. Shoppers frequented the Mall on Main, Meyer's Hardware, The Pomeroy Pharmacy, The Community Trunk, and other local businesses.

The Christmas parade featured a twinkling Smokey the Bear leading a Pomeroy Ranger District engine, JTI's wreath-bedecked truck, the Pomeroy Pirate 4-H horse club riders, the SoleKids Running Club, the Garfield County Livestock 4-H club, a "redneck sled" sponsored by Lockard Ranch and REC Racing, a garbage truck from Naslund Disposal Service blinking with Christmas lights, Pirate Partners and FCCLA's winter forest float, a boat float featuring an inflated Santa coming down the chimney sponsored by Mike and Alice Gwinn, a light-covered Christmas Kioti KL2510 tractor, neon-lit ATVs from the Lewis-Clark ATV club, and several engines and ambulances from GCFD, including the one commandeered by Santa.
