New pool boiler funded by Shepherd Foundation

POMEROY–The City Council announced funding securement for the Municipal Pool boiler; the tear-down of the pee-wee park roofed area; and passed the 2024 budget at the meeting on December 5.

The Council announced that the Harold and Helen Shepherd Foundation has granted the city $70,000 to purchase a new boiler for the pool, along with $18,301.38 to be used for pool passes, cemetery mowing and trimming, and two new trimmers. Councilman Jim Harris stated …we really appreciate everything they’ve done.”

The roofed area at the pee-wee park on Hill and 3rd Streets has been torn down. The roofing had become dangerous and the City lacked funding to fix it.

The Council passed Ordinance 933, establishing the 2024 budget, as well as Ordinance 934, amending the 2023 budget by authorizing expenditures above the approved amount due to unexpected revenue. The council also passed Resolution 23-14, adopting the Garfield County Hazard Mitigation Plan.
