Lady Pirates headed to Avista Tournament

LEWISTON–The Lady Pirates lost a close one to Liberty Christian on December 21 before breaking for the Christmas holiday. Next up for the Pirate girls basketball squad is a three-day tournament in Lewiston.

The Lady Bucs are now 1-3 in SE1B Wheat Division play, 2-4 overall. Following the holiday-break tourney, the squad jumps into the second half of the season January 4 at Genessee.

Pomeroy trailed by one point at halftime, 16-15 against the Lady Patriots and were outscored by just a few baskets in the second half for the seven-point difference in the final 39-32 score.

"We couldn't stop their two big girls," said Head Coach Brian Koller. Liberty's Calista Davis hit a pair of treys on her way to a game-high 21 points, and Ali Bush scored ten, two made from the arc.

"We played hard," Koller said, "we just couldn't handle them."

Kendyll Potoschnik drained three treys to score nine behind Taylor Gilbert's team-high 14, Gilbert also hitting three from the arc.
