Lady Pirates go 2-1 at Avista Tourney

LEWISTON–The Lady Pirates won two and lost one here New Year’s Weekend, starting slow but finishing strong in wins over the Clarkston JVs and Lapwai JVs.
Pomeroy hits the road for games at Genessee and Tekoa-Rosalia this weekend.
In every game we played,” said Head Coach Brian Koller, “we started slow and finished strong. We need to be better at getting going from the beginning and playing with more of a sense of urgency.”
Koller acknowledged that the team’s ability to “fight and battle back in all three games” was a positive, and the Lady Bucs did pull two out of the fire for wins.”
Against Lewiston, the Lady Pirates had the difference pared to six points before the team ran “out of gas,” Koller said. “Pomeroy grew stronger by the quarter, but couldn’t close the gap after a slow start against Lewiston’s JV.”
“We are improving as we move forward and become more comfortable with everything,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the challenge of the upcoming month for the Lady Pirates.”
