Green waste collection guidelines

January 11, 2024

POMEROY–Garfield County Public Works have set guidelines for acceptable waste allowed at the Garfield County Town Pit on Gould City-Mayview Road.

There has been a recent influx of dumping at the Garfield County Town Pit. The County offers a green waste collection for residents at the Garfield County Town Pit, a.k.a. Airport Pit. To keep the area efficient and organized, there are designated spots for each type of waste according to type. What is acceptable at this location is: yard waste, branches, flowers, leaves, trees, and tree trimmings, tires (without the wheels), concrete (without the rebar), and appliances.

Garfield County will not accept anything other than what is listed and the site is monitored by video surveillance. Dumping is prohibited.

Please refer to the guidelines from the Garfield County Website (www.GarfieldCountywa.gov) for acceptable waste. Alternate locations for some acceptable waste: Garfield County’s Transfer Station and Naslund Disposal. For questions call 1-800-958-5755 7 a.m.-3 p.m. For other questions, please contact The Garfield County Public Works Department 509-843-1301.
