Lady Bucs hit a rough patch

January 25, 2024

COLTON–The Lady Pirates are in search of consistence and point production to back up the team's defensive efforts as two road trips-to Colton and Oakesdale-were tough on the squad. Colton ran away after a close first quarter 56-27, and the Nighthawks also had better quarters after the first with a 52-15 win last week.

Four home games will wrap the regular season. DeSales visited earlier this week, then Gar-Pal comes to town Saturday, Tekoa-Rosalia on January 30 and Senior Night will be Saturday, February 3.

"We played probably our best half of basketball in the first half," commented Head Coach Nick Koller of the Colton loss. "Our defense was much better as was our overall effort.

"Being down by only six to high-powered Colton at half was a huge step for us," Koller remarked. "Our younger girls played hard and contributed tons. Now we just need consistency."

The always-tough Oakesdale team were true to form. "We played a very solid first quarter against a very aggressive Nighthawk team" Koller noted.

"We had opportunities to put up points but didn't," he added. "Our turnovers against their pressure hurt.  Defensively we played better."
