Garfield County Fire District No. 1 responded to a report of a barn fire at 410 Emerson Road at 2:43 on Friday, February 16, discovering that a livestock barn at the Robert and Ruth Yutzy place was burning and already on the ground, said Fire Chief James Cleveland. Four Garfield County units and several mutual-aid units from Columbia County Fire District No. 3 were at the scene, Cleveland said, and firefighters remained to ensure the fire did not spread to other structures. The cause is undetermined, and several livestock were in the building, but the number and disposition of those animals is not known, he said. The Yutzy family lost a barn to fire in March, 2023.
