Pirates finish sweep of young Wildcats

POMEROY––The powerful Pirates concluded their three-game sweep of the Colton Wildcats with a 17-1 flogging in five innings of the young team here Tuesday. On March 29, the Pirates notched 23-0, 19-1 wins at Colton.

"Colton is a young team," commented Head Coach Kyler Lovgren. "We've now started the second half of the season and we will need to ensure we stay focused and sharp, day in and day out."

Next up for the Buccaneers is a Saturday home double header against Garfield-Palouse, with a Monday road trip for a single game against the Vikings.

Trace Roberts highlighted the win with a home run in one of his four at-bats. Roberts covered first base, pitched two innings and had three hits and an RBI. On the mount, he struck out five and walked one in two innings.

Baerlocher and Schlee were the only Wildcats able to manage hits against the Pirate pitching staff.
