Numerous Pirates are bound for further track and field competition following the SE 1B Championships held here Tuesday. Pirate high jumper Lucy Shields clears the bar on the pole vault at the recent meet in Ritzville. In Tuesday's meet, Shields cleared 4-0 for fourth place.
POMEROY––The Pirate men's team chalked up 124 points to lead the nine-team field at the SE 1B Track and Field Championships here Tuesday, April 30. The Pirate women finished in fourth with 58 points, one behind Waitsburg and way back of first-place Garfield-Palouse with 137 points.
Tyler Slaybaugh took firsts in the 100m. and 200m. dashes, and pole vault, and ran anchor on the second-place 4x100m. Relay with teammates Jacob Reisinger, Jett Slusser and Boone Schmidt.
Carmen Fruh cleared 9-6 in the pole vault for Pomeroy's only women's first. Hollie Van Vogt was second in the javelin at 91-7. Both marks were personal bests for the athletes.
