Spring clean-up May 18

POMEROY–The Garfield County Public Works will again host the annual "Tire/Appliance Amnesty and Free Chipper Day event at the Old Rock Pit off Gould City-Mayview Toad on May 18. Volunteers to help will meet at the Senior Center at 9 a.m.

Garfield County Public Works, in cooperation with Naslund Disposal, and supported by the Department of Ecology, will host the annual tire/appliance amnesty and free chipper day. Volunteers will be available for those wishing help with property clean-up. This is a great opportunity for student volunteers looking to add or complete their community service hours requirement for graduation.

Community members will be able to discard yard waste which includes pine needles, limbs, and small logs up to 15 inches in diameter; tires (no rims, free of dirt and water, no combine tires); appliances such as dishwashers, hot water heaters, stoves, refrigerators, washers, and dryers. Naslund Disposal will handle household waste in garbage bags but no hazardous waste such as paint cans, etc., or appliances. Bins will fill quickly, so plan your drop-off early.
