Pastor's Corner

One of the most exciting adventures God has led us to embark on is establishing the Victory Baptist Church here in Dayton. Almost one year ago we held our first service at 166 E Main Street, formerly the Chamber of Commerce building.

The hand of the Lord has been evident as the Lord has provided all we needed to get a good start.

One of my favorite historical Bible characters is found in the Book of Joshua chapters 14 and 15. Caleb and Joshua were the only spies (of 12 sent) who came back with a good report and encouraged the children of Israel to go in and possess the land. Because of the lack of faith of the people of God, the entire nation of Israel had to wander in the wilderness for 40 years before God enabled Joshua and Caleb to lead the Israelites to go into Canaan land.

"And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the Lord spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old. As yet, I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in. Now, therefore, give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said. And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance." Joshua 14:10-13 KJV

Caleb was now nearly 85 years old and he asked Joshua to give him Mt. Hebron for an inheritance. He did not allow his age to diminish his fervor for the Lord. Joshua did give him his request and he wholly followed the Lord.

We have a generation in America that has aged. I, myself, am 71 years old and have taken on God's promise to build a church of the Victorious ones in Dayton. How old are you? God can still use you in your "old" age. Be a Caleb and say, "I want that Mountain"

I love pastoring old and experienced men and women of Faith. Join us as we make history in Dayton for the Glory of God!
