Pirates Jr. High hoops win one, lose one

POMEROY– The Pirates Junior High Basketball games played against the Colfax Bulldogs were tough, which they fought hard but were kept at bay with a Pirate A team loss of 18-54 and B team loss of 14-22 at their second game November 14.

The A Team’s leading scorer was Ollie Severs with eight points, Trace Roberts played hard scoring four points and fouling out in the fourth quarter. Ceasar Morphin made three points, which was the only Pirate three point shot for the day. Colby Ledgerwood scored two points and Jett Slusser scored only one.

Pirates B Team battled hard but they were also kept in check. The leading scorer was Jacob Reisinger with 9 points followed by Gunner Magill with 3 points and Ezra Johnson with 2 points. Pirates loss 14-Bulldogs 22.

The Pirate Junior High Basketball season started off strong winning with a final score of 49-23 at their first game against Oakesdale Nighthawks November 12.

Trace Roberts took the lead scoring 23 points, followed by Ollie Severs with a whopping 16 points. The team showed tremendous support for Cash Copher, Colby Ledgerwood, Ceasar Morphin, Boone Schmidt, and Jett Slusser each adding an additional two points. Coach Shane Severs was very proud of how his team played their first game.

Pirates B Team played strong taking the win with a score was of 21–18.

Jacob Reisinger scored nine points. Keizer Herres followed with six points, Gunner Magill four points and Greyson Slaybaugh two.
