Pioneer Association cancels Spring Tour and Pioneer Day activities

April 9, 2020

POMEROY–The COVID-19 pandemic and the isolation order by the governor prompted the decision to cancel this year’s Garfield County Pioneer Association Spring Tour in May and the Pioneer Day activities in June.

Pioneer Day activities include the Pioneer Parade, Food Fair and annual Pioneer Association meeting in the Seeley Theater. This will only be the second time in over one hundred years that the Pioneer Day celebration, held on the second Saturday in June, has been suspended, the other time being in 1911. But because a large percentage of the participants are considered to be at higher risk due to age it is in the best interest of everyone to cancel both events.

So, we will “See you next year!”
