    POMEROY–A the City Council held a public hearing on September 7 on a carport variance reducing the building setback from the alley from 25 feet to 15 feet requested previously by Joe and Elizabeth Walder preceded the meeting. The variance was approved. Sheriff Drew Hyer presented his monthly report to the council via teleconference, including 145 calls to service in August, twenty-eight city infractions, six criminal citations and 3,213 total miles driven in the city.     Ten Years Ago September 7, 2011 The record-breaking harvest of 2011 is bringing sights to grain elevators that haven’t been seen in recent memory. Last week, a wheat pile was started behind the Green Berry elevators. Warehouse foreman Larry Bunch said the last time this was done was probably in the 1970s.     Ten Years Ago August 31, 2011 A lot of Garfield County residents spent a hectic Sunday night helping neighbors and friends in the north part of the county put out fires after a short but severe lightning storm passed through the county.     POMEROY–A couple of years ago, local artist Mary Cook discovered "The Sketchbook Project" online which is "an independent company that organizes collaborative art projects and tours" and exhibits the efforts of artists–famous or unknown–from around the world via the Brooklyn Art Library.
