Library Book Sale Project at Fairgrounds

August 13, 2020

POMEROY–Each year during the Garfield County Fair, the Friends of Denny Ashby Library hold a used book sale inside the Flower and Vegetable building. This event is quite popular with area readers and is the primary money maker for the volunteer branch of our local library. In past years, tables were loaded with books from romance novels to cookbooks and it was always a rather crowded area.

At the suggestion of the Fair Board, the Friends agreed to replace the tables with bookshelves, choosing a Made-In-America company. With a little help from friends, members of the Friends of the Library, past members of the Garfield County Fair Board, and two high school volunteers put together bookshelves on Tuesday, July 7.

Volunteers Linda (Eric) McKeirnan, Brenda King, Barbara DeHerrera, Jay Bartels and Ollie Severs took a few hours to put them together. The group looks forward to having a nicer area where people can sit down to look through the book selections as well as an area to stop and visit with their friends.
