Pomeroy Gun Club has blustery week two Camas Prairie shoot

POMEROY–After a blustery second Camas Prairie shoot January 16–17, Pomeroy Gun Club competed in the third of the 10-week competition on January 23 and 24 with more moderate conditions.

The Junior Shooters shot on Saturday morning for the third Camas Prairie event. In the 12-year-old and under Division Peyton Cannon and Braxton McKeirnan led the young shooters with an 18 and a 16 in singles. McKeirnan had the top Handicap score with an 18 and Byron Collier and Peyton Cannon had 16s.

Sub Juniors were led by the 21 of Brodie Magill in Singles, while Nick Hastings posted a 20. Ollie Severs matched his singles score of 18 with another 18 in Handicap, while Brodie Magill and Hastings posted 17s.

Junior shooters were led by the near perfect 24 of Troy Steele in singles while Carson Zimmerman and Logan Ledgerwood carded 22s. Ledgerwood and Tyson Kimble led the Handicap with 23s and Zimmerman and Brady Bott had 22s.

Larry Bunch managed the only 25 for the week by Adult shooters on Sunday while Lady Shooter Tracy Hanger had a 24. Brian Bingman, Beau Blachly Buck Geiger and Robert DesJardin posted 23s for the Senior Shooters. Handicap was difficult on Sunday with a very cold East Wind in the faces of shooters. Bryan McKeirnan and Mitch Ruchert had 22s and Buck Geiger posted a 21 to lead the Adult competition.

In Continentals Tracy Hanger led the Club with a perfect 25 and did not have to fire a second shot to complete the score. Larry Bunch and Buck Geiger had 23s and Travis Ledgerwood and Justin Dixon posted 22s.

Bunch had the high Doubles score with 43X50 while Tracy Hanger completed a good day with a 40.

After two weeks of the competition the Junior Club remained in 8th place in the 24 Club field and the Adult Club remained in 14th place.

The Junior Club shot on Saturday morning January 16, under windy conditions, but managed to hold position. In the 12-year-old and under Division Braxton McKeirnan paced the young shooters for the second week in a row, with an 18 in the 16-yard singles event. Michael Debord and Payton Cannon both shot scores of 15. In the Handicap event Debord was the top shooter with a 16.

Brodie Magill, Gunner Magill, and Oliver Sever paced the Sub Juniors recording 20s in the Singles event. Gunner was the top Handicap shooter with a 21.

Troy Steele was the top Junior shooter in singles with a respectable 23. Junior Magill and Carson Zimmerman posted 21s. Zimmerman was the top Handicap shooter with a 21 while Brady Bott and Logan Ledgerwood recorded 21s.

The Adult shooters shot on Sunday under even worse windy conditions and Travis Ledgerwood, Buck Geiger, Lee Koller, Wayne Tetrick and Matt Fitzgerald all missed only one target for scores of 24. Mike Hastings and Terry John posted 23s in the 16 yd. event. Steve Brown had the top Handicap score with 23 and Luke Ledgerwood posted a 22.

In Continental shooting, where the Trap throws much faster and more difficult targets, but the shooter gets two shots if necessary, Justin Dixon and Larry Bunch had the top scores of 24.

Bunch and Buck Geiger both had 45 X 50 in Doubles to lead that event and Travis Ledgerwood posted a 43.
