PATAHA–The Pomeroy Gun Club achieved good scores for week nine of the Camas Prairie Competition (CPTA) shoot over last weekend, March 5–6.

The 2022 Camas Prairie Competition ninth week was blessed with beautiful March weather for Pomeroy Gun Club members, but the good conditions did not translate into perfect scores on either day.

During Saturday’s shoot, youngsters 12 years old and under were led in the 16-yard completion by the 16X25 from Carter Barron. Magnus Edwards posted a score of 14. In Handicap Barron also led with a 12.

The Sub Juniors were led in singles by the 24 of Gunner Magill that was shot ahead last week. Gunner’s score helped the Adults last week but could only be used for Pomeroy Gun Club trophy competition and did not count for this week’s CPTA completion. Mason Garcia, Colby Ledgerwood and Ollie Severs posted scores of 20.

In Handicap the Sub Juniors were led by another pair of 20s shot by Ledgerwood and Severs.

Junior Shooters were paced by the 23 of Nick Hastings in the 16-yard shooting while Caleb Barron posted a 21. Barron had another 21 in Handicap to lead the Juniors. Troy Steele and Braxton McKeirnan managed scores of 19.

The Adult shooters had beautiful weather on Sunday but nine shooters all missed one target for scores of 24 which was a disappointing result. Those shooters included Jim Adams, Mason Blachly, Steve Brown, Larry Bunch, Buck Geiger, Tracy Hanger, Mike Hastings, Terry John, and Mitch Ruchert. Beau Blachly, Robert Des Jardin, Bryan McKeirnan, and Wayne Tetrick had 23s.

Top Handicap results were the 23s shot by Ray Endicott and Lee Koller. Jim Adams, Mason Blachly, Larry Bunch and Wayne Tetrick all shot scores of 22.

Steve Brown put up a perfect 25 in Continental Competition while Larry Bunch and Buck Geiger missed one each for scores of 24. Lee Blachly, Jay Hanger and niece Tracy Hanger had 23s.

Jim Adams and Buck Geiger had the top Doubles scores with 44s and Travis Ledgerwood posted a 42. Tracy Hanger and Luke Ledgerwood had scores of 40 in that event.

In a competition held in Orofino, Idaho last Saturday, March 5, Steve and Holly Legerwood and Jim Adams attended a registered shoot. Holly was the Lady winner in Singles with a score of 96X100. Jim tied for “A” Class Honors with a 97 but was tied with another shooter and he did not stick around for the shoot-off, so he forfeited.

The tenth and final week of league shooting is March 12–13. The following week on March 17–20 will be the 68th Camas Prairie Shoot at Walla Wall Gun Club. There will be 900 registered targets offered for competition in Singles, Handicap, and Doubles. Shooters from the 24 Clubs in the Camas Prairie League along with other shooters from Non-Camas Prairie Clubs are invited to attend and compete.
