Gun Club members score big

POMEROY–In the tenth Camas Prairie Competition shoot, several members of the Pomeroy Gun Club made their best scores of the season, some ranked as perfect.

The Pomeroy Gun Club members enjoyed some nicer weather for the tenth and final week of the Camas Prairie competition and posted some good scores even though it was breezy at times.

During the Saturday 12-year-old and under 16-yard event, Carmen Fruh posted her best score of the year and the best score in that division with an 18X25 in the 16–yard event. Magnus Edwards topped the youngsters in the Handicap with a score of 15.

Mason Garcia posted a perfect 25 in the Sub Junior Division that was shot a week ahead and could only be used for Club Trophy competition. Gunner Magill had a 22 and Ollie Severs put a 21 on the Scoreboard. In Handicap in the Sub Junior Division Magill had a 23, Braxton McKeirnan had a 22 and Severs posted a 21.


Caleb Barron had near perfect 24 for the Juniors in 16–yard shooting while Nick Hastings had a 23 and Troy Steele put up a 22. In Handicap Steele was the leader with a 23, Hastings posted a 21 and Barron had a 20.

For the adult shoot on Sunday, Wayne Tetrick was perfect for the third time this year in the singles event and was joined by Buck Geiger and Robert DesJardin with scores of 25. Jim Adams, Larry Bunch, Lee Blachly and Mason Blachly were one target off the pace with scores of 24. Bunch had the top Handicap score of the day with a 24 while Brian Bingman, Bryan McKeirnan and Steve Brown posted scores of 23.

Larry Bunch and Ben Feider had 24s to lead the field in Continentals and Clark Capwell and Jim Adams posted 23s.

Jim Adams led Doubles with a very good 47 and Ben Feider had a 42.

Weiser Gun Club won the Camas Prairie Telephonic shoot with Wallace Kellogg finishing second in the competition. The Pomeroy Adults were 13th in the 24 Club Field.

The Junior Competition was won by Hermiston Gun Club with Troy-Deary finishing as Runner up. Pomeroy’s Juniors were 8th of the 24 Clubs.

Next weekend at the Camas Prairie Handicap all the Clubs will congregate for a 4-day competition starting on Thursday with a Preliminary Handicap. Friday, the Championship Competitions will start with an additional 800 Targets offered from Friday through Sunday. Saturday night, Holly Ledgerwood will compete with three other ladies from around the league for the final two positions of the five person Ladies All-Star Team. Holly has made the All-Star Team on several occasions including last year.

The Club will have a “Play Day” on Sunday March 27 starting at 9 a.m. The day will include a pot luck and the Gun Club will provide hot dogs and hamburgers for a noon meal followed by the annual business meeting and election of Officers.

Club trophies for the 10–week competition will be awarded at the meeting and all shooters who participated in the 10–week are encouraged to attend.
