POMEROY–Sub-Junior Pomeroy Gun Club shooter, Gunner Magill, took top score at the Colton Gun Club's registered shoot while Camas Prairie week seven competition proved tough. For local Gun Club, a cold front caused high winds making targets quite allusive.

Five Pomeroy Gun Club shooters, Lee Blachly, Larry Bunch, Brodie Magill, Gunner Magill and Wayne Tetrick travelled to Colton on Saturday to participate in their registered shoot. In the Sub Junior division at the Colton Gun Club registered shoot, Gunner Magill took top score with a 24. Sawyer Brenner and Hagen Taylor had scores of 19. In Handicap Magill posted the top score of 23 and Byron Collier had a 20.

Conditions were not great but Gunner shot an outstanding 97X100 in the 16-yard event in his very first competition of that length. That score was good enough to make him the Junior Champion in the shoot.

Wayne Tetrick broke a 96 which was second best in B class. Gunner broke a 90 in Handicap which was five targets behind young Dilan McKenzie of Troy-Deary Gun Club. Dilan was the Champion over the field in the event. Fifty-seven shooters participated. Larry Bunch broke a 90 in Doubles that tied him for B Class with Brian Windsor of Colton. The two decided to break the tie with a coin flip over an adult beverage rather than shooting off and Windsor prevailed in the Coin toss.

The 12-year-old and under competition at the Pomeroy club, Carter Barron had the top score of 20X25 in the 16-yard event and Rowdy Cole managed an 18. In the Handicap shooting for the youngsters Barron led again with a score of 20 and Rory McKeirnan posted a score of 17.

In Junior competition the top 16-yard score was posted by Mason Garcia with a 22 and Colby Ledgerwood one target back with a 21. In Handicap Brodie Magill led the Junior Division with a 22 and Garcia and Ollie Severs had scores of 20.

The Senior Club were unable to match another perfect 25 during week seven in the16-yard shooting, but Brian Bingman, Buck Geiger, Lee Koller and Travis Ledgerwood all only missed one target for scores of 24. Sean Beale, Mason Blachly, Robert DesJardin, Jay Hanger, Terry John, Holly Ledgerwood and Mitch Ruchert all shot scores of 23. In the Adult Handicap Brian Bingman and Luke Ledgerwood shot the top scores of 23.

In Continental Shooting Brian Bingman, Jim Adams, Steve Brown, Larry Bunch and Robert DesJardin all shared the top score of 23. In Doubles Competition Brian Bingman posted a near perfect 49X50 in difficult conditions that was simply outstanding. Jim Adams posted a 44.

Pomeroy Adults are in eighth place in the 10-week competition after week seven and the Juniors are still in second place, nine targets behind leader Hermiston and four targets ahead of third place Troy-Deary.

Shooting resumes this Saturday at the local Club for Juniors on Saturday, February 25 and for Adults on Sunday, February 26.
