I became a Pomeroy resident when my father brought our family here, when he took a position as a history teacher in 1967. I went on to graduate with the class of 1971, left Pomeroy and lived in many places around the U.S. That has been an incredible experience which opened the opportunity for continued education here in our country and overseas. That experience expanded the development of many job skills that have benefited me and in my business over the years. Before I came to Pomeroy, I lived and worked on a missile defense range on Kwajalein, in the Marshall Islands. I have now lived in Pomeroy for 16 years.

What I thought was going to be retirement turned out quite different than I expected. The job situation in Pomeroy pushed me to open my own business. Based on the needs expressed by several Pomeroy residents, I opened a bed and breakfast and a full-service yard care service. It also gave me the opportunity to be paid for something that I have always loved doing and to be outside.

Both businesses have given me considerable exposure to the opinions and concerns of customers who grew up here, were just visiting, or are current residents. I feel that I have a good understanding of what most Pomeroy residents would like to see happen in their community, with the energy, background, and foresight to make a difference.

I would be a great asset to the community in a seat on the city council because I bring diversity through my experiences here and abroad, I hear concerns from my clients and neighbors because I listen, I believe in community integrity-keeping a balance between the morals and standards alive and well in this county as well as see the need to share rural ideologies by expanding housing availability. I am the person who is willing to work with others to make needed changes by diplomatically bringing it to the council's meeting table. I have great organization and budgeting skills, and a vested interest in Pomeroy as a business and homeowner. As evidenced by customer references and reviews in Yelp, Google, and Trip Advisor, you can see that I strive to do business diligently and with great care for my customers and would use those assets to serve this community as a city council member. I hope I can count on your vote this fall.
