Peasley wins race for Pomeroy Mayor; Field edges Fuchs for City Council

Challenger Jack Peasley garnered 402 votes and appears to be the City of Pomeroy's next mayor.

POMEROY––Incumbent Pomeroy Mayor G. Paul Miller was outpolled by challenger Jack Peasley, who received 402 votes and 78.67% of the vote compared to Miller's 109 votes, or 21.33%, tipping the decision to Peasley, according to unofficial results from the 2023 General Election on November 7. The post of mayor is for a four-year term.

Ballots from 759 of Garfield County's 1,652 voters were counted by Election Day, with 45.94% turning out.

The race for City Council Position 2 appears to be going to Roni Field, who received 298 votes and 59.72% compared to James R. Fuchs's 201 votes and 40.28%. All City Council positions are for four-year terms.

Kurt L. Tetrick looks to be the winner of Council Position No. 3, garnering 386 votes to Leann Clayton's 108 votes. Tetrick received 78.14% and Clayton received 21.86% in Election Day results.

Unopposed candidates for Pomeroy City Council included Rachel Anderson for Pos. 1, 433 votes; Council Pos. 5, John Hirsch, 407 votes; Fire Commissioner At Large 3 (six-year term), Gary Bowles, 671; Hospital Commission 3 (six-year term), Steven Cannon, 631; Hospital Commission 5 (six-year term), Jennifer Dixon, 635; School Board Pos. 1, Bart K. Gingerich, 613; School Board Pos. 3, Ashley Koller, 617; School Board At Large Pos. 5, Allison McKeirnan, 610.

Garfield County results for portions of the Clarkston School District: Director No. 1, Rich Hanks, 3 votes, Dan Randles 3 votes; Pos. 2, Dennis Lenz, 5; Pos. 5, Chris Bunce 2 votes, Todd Snarr 4.

All school board positions are for four-year terms.

The County Canvassing Board will convene on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. to determine the status of provisional or challenged ballots and canvass votes cast and certify the election in the Garfield County Commissioner's Chambers.
