    POMEROY–The Garfield County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) appointed Tina Meier as Garfield County Emergency Management Director (EMD) at its regular weekly meeting September 21, 2020.     POMEROY–Matt Herres was appointed and sworn in as the new Port of Garfield Commissioner at the September 15, 2020, meeting. The appointment fills the seat vacated by Cody Bye. A second candidate, Terry Brandon, had withdrawn his application. The Port commissioners signed Inter Local Agreements with the County which allows them to have two dedicated strands of fiber to the fairgrounds at no charge.     POMEROY–During the City Council continuance meeting on Tuesday evening, September 15, they discussed how to use $42,000 of the CARES Act funding. Jack Peasley of the Southeast Washington Economic Development Association (SEWEDA), elaborated on a subrecipient agreement proposal he had made to the City regarding having SEWEDA manage the COVID/CARES Act grant funds.     Elton Eugene Brown December 26, 1945–September 10, 2020 Elton Eugene Brown, 95, of Pomeroy, Wash., passed away a couple of months ago just shy of his ninety-sixth birthday, on September 10, 2020.
