Braedyn White gets a little pushback from his opponent, Trentin Ensley of Colfax, as they wrestled in the 170-lb. class at Liberty last week. White finished second and advanced to regionals.

SPANGLE–Pirate wrestlers advanced to Regionals this Saturday at Reardan after competing in the District 7/9 South League Tournament last Thursday at Liberty H.S.

Regionals starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at Reardan H.S. and the top four advance to state Feb. 21-22 at the Tacoma Dome.

Will Winona

Braedyn White finished second in the 170 lb. division, defeating T. Ensley of Colfax by fall and then losing to J. Turner of Liberty. "White continued his strong season after a hard-fought loss in the finals," said Head Coach Ben Slaybaugh.

Third in the 160 lb. class, Curtis Winona pinned J. Harp of Tekoa-Rosalia, lost to S. Henry of Davenport, then won against M. Lencioni of Liberty.

Will Winona, 182 lb., finished fourth with a win over C. Tracy of Ling-Ritzville-Sprague. He lost to C. Noha of Colfax and S. Nelson of Liberty.

Nick Hastings, 132 lb., is fifth regional alternate. Hastings was pinned by M. Agney and I. Griffin, both of Davenport.

Dayton-Waitsburg's Carlos Norris, wrestling at the EWAC tournament Feb. 5 in White Swan, pinning P. Ferrer of Kittitas then scoring 10-2 over F. Garduno of White Swan for a second consecutive 138-lb. league championship. He advances to regional at Oroville.
