WAITSBURG–A disciplined defense and good offensive play were the keys to Pomeroy's 66-30 win over the Waitsburg Cardinals here Saturday, December 30.

The Pirates are 5-0 in league, 8-1 overall as they look forward to road games to Genessee and Tekoa-Rosalia this weekend.

"We played a great game defensively tonight," said Head Coach Chris Wolf. "We were able to hold Waitsburg to 10 first half points.

"We were disciplined at staying in the gaps and limiting penetration throughout the game while doing a good job of contesting the three-point shots," Wolf added.

Three Pirates scored in double figures. Trace Roberts had a great game with 16 points and seven rebounds while shooting 6-8 from the field. Ollie Severs and Kyzer Herres both scored 13 points. Severs grabbed five rebounds and Herres snared four. Jett Slusser was all sixes with six points, rebounds and assists.

"We held them to 1-16 from the three-point arc and did a great job of communicating where the shooters were," Wolf said. "Offensively we were sloppy at times but overall played very well."
