Washington State ATA Trap Shoot

WALLA WALLA–Seven members of the Pomeroy Gun Club participated in all or some of the Washington State ATA Trap Shoot at the Gun Club there, where some good scores were shot by the Pomeroy Gun Club members on Thursday May 18 through Sunday May 21. In addition, Larry Bunch brought home some trophies.

Holly Ledgerwood had the top Singles score among Pomeroy participants on Thursday with a score of 95, and Larry Bunch managed a 92. Bunch had a 90 in the Day's Handicap and a 94 in Doubles which tied him with fellow Clarkston resident Dale Kinzle for "B" Class Champion. Bunch prevailed in the shoot off in a carryover to Fridays Doubles event.

On Friday, Bunch had a 96 in Singles and Holly Ledgerwood posted a 91 in the Lady II competition, Steve Ledgerwood had an 84.

Wayne Tetrick, Robert Koller and Brian Bingman entered the action on Saturday, as the State Championship events began. In the 200 singles Bunch broke a 100 straight in the first half of the event and a 96 in the second half for a score of 196X200 which was good enough for "B" Class honors. Brian Bingman shot a 98 and a 95 for a score of 193 and Wayne Tetrick had a pair of 96s for a score of 192. Holly Ledgerwood had a 190 with a 97 and a 93. In Saturday's Handicap, Brian Bingman had a 96 and earned a half yard of Handicap yardage for the third time in the month of May. Bunch had a 94 and Tetrick posted a 92.

In Sunday's Handicap, Bingman shot a very respectable 90 in tough breezy condition, Bunch had an 86 and Tetrick posted an 85. Bunch shot the whole 1100 target program and his score of 1007 won him "B" Class High Overall, his 360 in the 400 Championship targets (200 singles,100 Handicap, and 100 Doubles} was good for High all around "B" class runner-up.

The next registered shoot in the area will be at Colton Gun Club on June 3 and 4. There, 600 targets will be offered at that shoot.
