Fair weather, better scores for week six

POMEROY–Week six of Pomeroy Gun Club's efforts in the Camas Prairie competition brought fairer weather and better scores. Seven club members also participated in a registered shoot at the Colton Gun Club on Saturday February 17.

Three Pomeroy shooters brought home trophies on the cold blustery day in Colton. Holly Ledgerwood broke a 96X100 score in the 16-yard. event That was the second-best score of the event and garnered her the Lady Championship. Jim Adams recorded a score of 93 in the competition and that score was good enough for Veteran honors. Buck Geiger was the "A" Class Doubles Champion with a very good score of 92 which was the top score of the Day in all Categories.

Travis Ledgerwood shot a score of 91 in Singles and Buck Geiger and Larry Bunch had scores of 88 in the Handicap event where scores in the 90s totaled only three out of the 45-shooter field. Brodie Magill posted an 83 in Handicap.

Meanwhile, back in Pomeroy, the Junior Gun Club battled similar conditions on Saturday and scores were down a little from previous weeks. In the 12-year-old and under completion at 16-yards Rowdy Cole had a decent score of 21X25 and Carter Barron posted a 17. Cole also posted the Handicap competition best score of 21.

In the Sub Junior division Luke Collier had the top score of 22 and Byron Collier and Hagen Taylor put up score of 17. Taylor put of the best Handicap Score on the day with a 22.

In Junior competition Mason Garcia had to top 16-yard. score of 21 and Ollie Severs was one target back with a 20. In Handicap, Severs and Gunner Magill had to top scores with 21s.

On Sunday, the adults were greeted with snow and rain at times but the absence of winds that have plagued the Club resulted in the best day of the six-week competition.

In the 16-Yard. competition Mason Blachly and Wayne Tetrick each broke their second perfect 25 of the season and Mitch Ruchert posted his first 25. Missing just one target, on the day with scores of 24, were Brian Bingman, Jeff Hannas, Glenn Barber, Holly Ledgerwood, Terry John, and Jim Adams.

In the Handicap event Mason Blachly and Tracy Hanger posted scores of 23 and Brian Bingman, Ray Endicott, and Brodie Magill had scores of 22.

In the Continental competition Jim Adams and Brian Bingman had perfect 25s and Travis Ledgerwood posted a 24.

Doubles on the day saw Buck Geiger post the top score of 45X50, and Jim Adams and Luke Ledgerwood had scores of 41.

After six weeks of competition, the Junior Club moved from sixth to fifth place and the Adult Club is in twelfth place in the 25-club field. The club will participate in Week seven this coming weekend.
