    POMEROY–The Pomeroy City Council held a continued meeting on March 29 to approve paying two invoices accrued for the "Complete Streets project; one from Flynn's Electric and the other to Knox Concrete. Invoices were paid to cover costs accrued from the last work done on the "Complete Streets" project. Tasks included rewiring light poles on Main Street, fixing drainage and bus crossing at the Pomeroy High School, and sidewalk repair at the Denny Ashby Library and around town.     POMEROY–It wasn't too windy to plow as the Eastern Washington Agricultural Museum (EWAM) held its Spring Farming Days on April 2 and 3. Six teams of horses and mules–also called hitches–pulled plows, harrows, and seed drills on the field at the Garfield County Fairgrounds.     POMEROY–The Garfield County Pioneer Association (GCPA) is making plans for the annual county tour, Mayview Part 2 on May 14, and Pioneer Day with the Blachly family as Honored Pioneers on June 11. The Mayview Part 2 bus tour scheduled for Saturday, May 14, will continue in the Mayview area not covered last year.   • Pavement sealing on Upper Deadman to get underway

    POMEROY–County Engineer Grant Morgan reported the start date for the pavement sealing project on the upper Deadman at the Garfield County Commissioners meeting on April 4. The project will begin on April 25, and the County Road Crew is currently working on widening shoulders of the road in preparation.     POMEROY–Garfield County Chipper Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 9 at 8 a.m.–2 p.m. Garfield County will host a free chipper day for county residents to dispose of their yard waste at the old rock pit located of Gould City-Mayview Road. County residents can dispose clean yard and garden debris, pine needles, leaves, limbs and small logs (up to 15 inches) free from rocks, root balls or anything over 15 inches in diameter to the site.     When a court rules that a tax is “is declared unconstitutional and invalid and, therefore, is void and inoperable as a matter of law,” what happens next?     Robert Glaspie July 2, 1930–March 26, 2022 Robert "Barber Bob" Glaspie, 91, pulled away from the dock for the last time on March 26, 2022. Robert was born July 2, 1930 in Troup, Tex. A Korean War veteran, Bob drove a tank and served in the military guard before receiving an honorable discharge and marrying Salina Gayle Hester Goodman in 1952.     LACEY, WASH.–Garfield County is among thirteen Washington communities that will share in a grant received from local law enforcement to provide free bike and skateboard helmets. Pomeroy will receive $500. The funds were awarded by the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC) as a part of a program approved by the Washington Legislature in 2021.     SPOKANE–Innovia Foundation has awarded $1,011,665 in grants to 124 organizations in Eastern Washington and North Idaho through the Community Grant Program. Nine organizations in Garfield, Columbia, and Asotin counties received grants.
